Researchers at the University of Almería (UAL) have discovered anti-tumour compounds in Asian seaweed, an invasive alien species originating from the Pacific Ocean which poses a major environmental problem along the Andalusian coast.

The team has been studying this species for three years in an attempt to make its removal economically viable, thereby eliminating the significant cost it imposes on local councils.
